Situated below the Palisades escarpment, an extensive green roof development maximizes visual appeal for those experiencing the river vista from above. Varied types of drought tolerant plant materials and large pavers create a colorful pattern. Flowering shrubs, perennials and seasonal annuals soften the walls along the streetscape’s residential entries. Brick bands in the streetscape pavement, along with decoratively paved crosswalks at the street intersections, incorporate the building colors and materials. Nautical bollards along the streetscape invoke the memory of the former use of the site as an active waterfront. Along the riverfront, a pedestrian promenade provides public access to the waterfront. Part of the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway, the promenade is recessed below street level and accessed at each major street intersection. Featuring the same decorative lights, pavements and railing as on the streetscape, this broad promenade also features freestanding and built-in benches facing the river, taking full advantage of the views to Manhattan across the river.
